A new addition to the garden…
No self-respecting tropical plant enthusiast can get by without some form of winter protection for their prized specimens (and I’ve been politely informed by my wife that the orangery is off limits for overwintering).
That’s its main purpose for me, really – a winter retreat for my tender tropicals.
Construction was painful; particularly the base, which is, by all accounts, the most important thing to get right. Fitting the glass was terrifying, though quicker than expected.
I’m really pleased with it. I mean, it’s tiny, and already full, but should do the trick.
It also represents an escape – somewhere for me to retreat in the winter. I find the smell of greenhouses so enticing. There’s barely room to stand up, however, so I won’t be retreating for long.
I’ve just reread this post, and, subconsciously, I think I’m already convincing myself that I need another greenhouse.
Oh well – needs must.
